The snow hit today

The local bus to my office, which is whimsical at the best of times, was missing in action today. I waited for my first bus for a bit, then decided it would be faster to walk the eight blocks or so to my next bus. When I got there, a large crowd had already been waiting for about a half an hour. I waited for fifteen minutes or so (watching no less than seven buses that should have passed me while I was walking) and then spotted a friend walking to work so I joined him. I beat the bus.

At least I wasn't in Montreal. This is just wacky! http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/montreal-beaver-hall-snow-slippery-1.3881744

By me the snow hit yesterday ...and I had not finished winterizing my shrubbery yet. What does this do to your swimming routine? And what's the coldest (in Fahrenheit) that you have gone swimming?

It also hit here in Vancouver, it was a mess out there.

That's crazy! We have rain coming our way and it's very cold this morning, but no snow and hopefully nothing like what you are experiencing. Stay warm!

Is your work strict about everyone being on time or if there is a bus delay is it ok and they don't get mad?

The routine won't change until there is ice on the water. Falling in suddenly, or getting trapped under ice, are both too dangerous. Realistically, we probably have no more than a couple of swims left. Last year, we went in on January 2. There were big chunks of ice but it wasn't solid yet. In Farenheit, I'm guessing it was just above 32 degrees.

I was afraid it was going to take out that light standard!

I heard it was the first time in decades you have had snow on this date. Your pictures were very pretty.

We're expecting rain again tomorrow or Thursday. That's actually more dangerous now. Also damp and miserable. I much prefer dry cold weather with the snow.

Luckily, I work in an office where we have a lot of flexibility to set our own hours. So long as we put in the minimum time each week, we can start early, late, work compressed weeks (at least some can), or change things up as needed. It's much worse for friends who work in retail.

We're getting rain tonight and everyone is pretty happy as it means snow in the mountains. I much prefer rain to snow, but you are right about it being dangerous (at least to some!).

That seems so wonderful! I'd love to be able to set my own schedule a little more and have more room to come and go as I please.
