What's the best investment you have made this year?

I'm looking for thoughts on value for money, usefulness, or just general why something you acquired or did for yourself was awesome.

Mine was the purchase of a pair of jade earrings at the Museum of Civilization. SMall balls, hypoallergenic, good backs, about $6.00. I wear green a lot and like to coordinate my jewelry. I wear them, on average, at least once a week.

cheap carving tools from Princess Auto. Much pleasure from them. $5-$20

A doo-hicky that attaches to John's laptop and sends sounds to the car radio. $5 ish.

The discount DVD player that takes thumb drives and plays avis and mp3s. No more burning CDs that don't work $100.

Boggs Rubber Boots. They were warm enough for the winter and water proof. They were more expensive that $10 boots from walmart but definite value for money.

Car rental in Las Vegas. Getting to see the desert was the highlight of my trip.

Decent clothes for my first professional conference in a decade. Not cheap, but they fit, I felt like I looked good, and therefore was able to leave the impression I wanted to leave.

Also? Honestly? My Amazon Prime membership. We order stuff all the time for homeschooling and professional development, and watch streaming stuff with the kids (or on our own - gasp!) almost every evening.

the "I can do it" conference in Toronto. I left there feeling like a million bucks which lasted for a few months.
