12th Night

Don't know when it's happening, or where, but if I can go, I want to make gebrannte Mandeln and wrap them in a papiertute. I remember them from Kermisses and the beginning of the school year in Germany. I wish I could find documentation. I have found one reference to them being written about since the 1500s, the it's extremely sketchy and I don't read German well enough to find anything more.

Ya... not so much with the English there you know.

you want to make something you remember from somewhere but you can't prove the think exists? :)

I want to make something for which I have read one reference (not even Wikipedia standard) claiming that there are lots of written references to these things within the SCA period (1500). Those other references are all in German, which I can read even less than I can type in English when I'm overtired :) I have found references in English to these things with a specific use (first day of school for little kids) from about 1800. I'm willing to bet the more general usage that I am interested in is older, but can't prove it. Maybe if I could find the umlauts on my computer, I could consult Herr Google and his cousin Herr Google Translate.
