All my grand intentions of visiting LJ regularly have failed miserably in the last few weeks, so it feels good to be connected again.

Work got insanely busy with the end of the fiscal year, followed by the mad scramble to get everything in place so I could go off on sick leave. I had bunion surgery on one foot last Wednesday, and have been mostly bedridden ever since. Sadly, I don't own a laptop, and I haven't felt up to sitting at my computer desk. My daughter gave me the password to hers, in exchange for me installing some anti-malware software (which took a while to run) so today is the first time I am able to use it. In the meantime, I have been prepping for me-made-May, much to the disgust of family members who might wish to eat at the fabric-covered dining room table. I have been having great fun working on some surprise gifts for friends.

My son returned home from Paris yesterday, which was lovely. I think he was home for just over an hour before he headed out with buddies to watch the hockey game.

My $5 a day eating project is turning out to be a colossal flop. I really think I could do it, but it needs to be at a time when I can concentrate on it with no help from my parents. Between birthday treats and meals brought to me while I'm at home, my parents have totally messed with my ability to track my eating (though the food itself was a lovely indulgence).

That's enough of an update for now. It's time to see if I can manage to quasi shower and wash my hair. I have a tub that is okay for baths with a right foot hanging over the side, but my left foot is the one in bandages. First world problems, I know.

Good luck with your continued healing.

Did you see how Gwyneth Paltrow planned to live a month on something like $29/week? It;s amazing that people really do that, but so hard to be healthy, for sure.

I did read that, and that she gave up after about three days. It really shouldn't be that difficult, but it does take discipline and a willingness to eat leftovers.
